Maybe because all my CAD experience has been solidworks and Inventor but my job uses CATIA and it's the absolute worst.

Everything is so finnicky. For example yesterday I needed to copy some parts from one assembly to another. They wouldn't copy.

I had no idea what I was doing wrong. I highlighted them all in space and copied from there with nothing.

I highlighted them in the tree and copied with no luck. Then my supervisor comes over and does the exact same thing but it works for him.

Turns out 'control+c' doesn't actually work even though it says on the menu that it's a keyboard shortcut for copy. CATIA Intuitive choose one But really, when it comes down to it, it's more or less the fact that CATIA's navigation is fucking weird. Especially rotation.

If you use a 3D mouse it's fine, but without that you're toast. Though it's very robust; at its core CATIA is an absolute out-of-date-shit-show. It's used by huge companies and industries, and when you have 30k+ users, you can't handle big changes in your CAD system, hence why V5/V6 looks and feels like it's stuck in 1998. I'd say yeah OP, try it out, but don't have an illusion that it's somehow 'better' just because the big names such as Boeing use it.
