GuYuming is correct, you will not be able to install SharePoint 2010 directly into a 32-bit version of the Windows operating system. You do have one option that is technically possible but I would not recommend it: Sun's free VirtualBox virtualization product can be run on a 32-bit operating system and but is also able to host 64-bit virtual machines running on that 32-bit OS. So you could do a VM running a 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008 and install SharePoint 2010 successfully on it. Cerberus. Pre-requirements must be installed before being able to actually install either SP 2010 Foundation or the Server version. See here on my blog (for a detailed step by step installation on a Windows 7 X64 and also reference tutorial for a how to prepare a boot from VHD so you don't have to ruin your physical machine (VS 2010 included!).
