Hi - I am a new user and hope someone can come up with a solution I have a Dimension 5150. Yesterday a problem occured. Each time I try to open anything a dialog box appears saying ' Please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office professional 2003.' Then a further box 'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable - Click 'OK' to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing PRO11.MSI in the box below AND click Browse'. I have then opened up Program Files but am unable to get any further. Another box opens telling me that other potential solutions can be found by going to C: Program Files Microsoft Office OFFICE11 1033 SETUP.CHM.
Office pro 2003. Discussion in 'Software. Icon pops up: microsoft office professional edition 2003 click ok, to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'PRO11.MSI' in the box below. 'click ok, to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'PRO11.MSI.
- I have been unable to find this path. Can anyone help please? OK - a few questions: 1) You state that'Each time I try to open anything.' - do you mean ANY application or an Office application? If it is an Office application, does this happen with ALL Office applications or one in particular? 2) You say you open'Program Files but am unable to get any further.'
I'm not sure what you mean by that - you can't navigate through Program Files or you can't find the setup.chm file (it is in that location on my machine)? 3) The PRO11.MSI file is located on the Office installation CD. When you are asked for this file, have you inserted the Office installation CD and then browsed the CD for this file? 4) Is this a new installation of Office or have you been using Office for some time and this is a new problem that just cropped up? Close Word and then search your hard drive for the file Normal.dot (include hidden and system files in the search). Delete all copies of normal.dot that you find.
Now restart Word. It'll create a new copy of normal.dot If that doesn't fix it, go and download Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (free). Run the utility and when given the opportunity point it at PRO11.MSI. Note: the cleanup utility does NOT remove Office from your system. It only deletes the (corrupted?) log file which should put an end to the installer's constant desire to install Word features. You will however, no longer be able to remove Office using the Add/Remove Programs control panel.

It seems that you have an Office installation that has become corrupted. If you don't have the Office installation CD however, you may be out of luck. Almost every 'repair' procedure for Office requires the Office CD.
