Well the time has come to list the Blackfin. 1996 Blackfin 33' Combi express sportfish. Has twin 450 hp cummins 6cta's with about 1800hrs, 6.5 Kw northern lights generator with 1700 hrs, A/C, simrad.
Re: Blackfin 32' paperwork I was suspicious when I saw that the name was being brought back to life. The problem of moving old boats around different countries is very old. Especially if the boat was a commerical design. Protectionism at work.He may wind up reselling it to cut his TOTAL legal costs. Add in time with no boat & money tied up & no pleasure from it.
We Auction off none titled boats from other countries. Waste of time & money in the long run. It took 6 YEARS to get USCG approval on a 1940s US out of bussines boat. WITH wealthy & powerfull people calling some favorsowed to them. ONLY buy FULLY active titles that you check out with agencies. Buying the boat.
Then the boat is a real pleasure to own.
I have a single Crusader 454 24' Combi that I’ve owned and fished for 8 years now. It's an AWESOME boat!! They do have some age on them now, and most require a little upgrade & repair. My wiring (though the quality and sizing was good) was sort of a mess. 300 part 2 download. I've slowly been replacing & reworking. Had to replace the hose on my shaft log, as it was pretty well shot (dangerous).
My fuel fill hoses and vent hoses were in bad shape and cracked & dry rotted. One (a vent line) began leaking and replaced all of them.
If the fuel tanks are original they are toast. Mendichya panavar vol 3. If they've been replaced, they probably need replacing again.
Check the plywood bulkhead just aft of the engine compartment. It's hard to get to most of it, but if you remove the fuel tanks take a good look at it then. Some have experienced a little rot there. Mufflers are located under the deck and are not accessible. There is a short piece of rubber exhaust hose between the fiberglass exhaust outlet at the transom, and the end of the muffler. It is TOTALLY inaccessible. I reached through an inspection plate with a digital camera and stuck my arm WAY back in there and took a picture.
What it revealed is two broken hose clamps on the exhaust hose(s). I'll be cutting a hatch in the deck this coming spring, and replace the exhaust hose & clamps. The forward bilge was not accessible either, and when she sitting in the water that’s where most of the bilge water is. I cut out the live well/fish box just forward of the engine compartment (which was in a stupid place to begin with). This gave me total access, and a place to install a 3rd bilge pump at the lowest point in the bilge. You shouldn’t find any problems with the hull or other structure - these boats are tanks!
As far as the engine goes, have it checked out but, they are WAY less expensive to maintain/rebuild/replace than today’s outboards. Here's a great site for Crusader owners. Also, check out the Blackfin Owners Group Not a whole lot of activity over there but, lots of knowledge if your patient for a reply. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me via email. I owned one and fished it hard around 1985.
